Prevention:

Minimize or avoid smoking or other tobacco use.
Minimize or avoid alcohol use.
Practice good oral hygiene.
Have dental problems corrected.
Have the soft tissue of the mouth examined once a year. Many oral cancers are discovered by routine dental examination.
